Red Bee Media

pcm were appointed by the BBC to undertake a health and safety compliance audit for one of their Service Providers - Red Bee Media.

BBC Broadcast Limited was recently sold to an Australian investment bank and now trade under the name of Red Bee as a stand alone entity. While providing services to the external market a large amount of Red Bee's activities are still to the BBC and as such they continue to occupy shared facilities within the Broadcast Centre at the Media Village.

Red Bee Media specialises in the delivery and promotion of digital media and offers the complete range of services required to promote, playout, and provide access to, broadcast content across all media; from television to mobile phones.

The audit was based upon compliance with health and safety management legislation, and best practice standards that Red Bee Media deploy across the business.

The key aim of the audit was to establish if appropriate management arrangements wee in place to ensure that health and safety issues were successfully managed; if risk control systems existed an were implemented, and if appropriate workplace precautions were in place within Red Bee Media.

The audit was conducted by desktop appraisal of documentation and gap analysis; review of practices of Red Bee Media, and full open discussions with personnel from across the business.

Key areas incorporated into the audit included reviewing the procedures and/or processes for the following:

corporate governance; policy and arrangements; culture and attitude; competence; cascade of safety information; quality standards; communication and escalation procedures; health and safety committees; risk assessments; the commercial procurement/management of contractors; health and safety training and performance management and KPI's.

A full report was produced, highlighting high, medium and low actions in a risk based chart, red, amber and green (see attached example), with recommendations attached to each item reviewed in the audit with suggested timescales for completion .

Post Audit, pcm continued to offer support and guidance on the implementation of the action plan.
