Trafalgar Day
pcm acted as the health and safety coordinator and manager for 2 major events as part of the 2005 Trafalgar Day celebrations; including the Son et Lumiere and the International Drumhead Ceremony which took place in Portsmouth on the 28th and 29th June respectively.
Crowds for the events were in excess of ¼ million people.
Navy's gathered from some 40 countries around the globe as a wonderful reminder of how the sea has brought together so many countries in friendship and history. Our role included the health and safety management of illustrations of sea battles featuring some of the world's finest tall ships, fireworks, floodlit displays and aerial acrobatics by the Red Arrows.
Royal Geographical Society
Founded in 1830 for the advancement of geographical science the Society purchased its listed headquarters location, Lowther Lodge in Kensington in 1911.
Originally built for the Hon William Lowther MP, the headquarters were designed in 1874 by Norman Shaw, one of the most outstanding domestic architects of his day. Other buildings of his include the Piccadilly Hotel, Piccadilly, the Gaiety Theatre and Restaurant, Aldwych, New Scotland Yard, Victoria Embankment and Vauxhall Bridge.
The audit covered such areas as Display Screen Equipment, fire, access, trips, slips and falls hazards, public access for events etc. The report document produced detailed areas that fall short of current legislative requirements. This was then discussed with the client and resulted in additional services undertaken including risk assessments and development of procedures. In addition pcm undertake event risk assessments for all their future public events.
pcm are no strangers to the Royal Geographical Society as they provided CDM Co-ordination services for the recent extension works.
